Samanta schweblin little eyes6/29/2023 In Tell The Machine, it was a computer that could tell anyone how to be happy, and Williams turned that (rather disruptive, obviously impossible) technology into a quiet, slow-burn drama of family and human connection that was one of my favorite books of the past few years. It then introduces one small thing - one little change, one product, one tweaked application of a totally familiar technology - and tracks the ripples of chaos that it creates. It is a place with all our recognizable horrors, all our familiar comforts and sweetnesses, as familiar (as if anything could be familiar these days) as yesterday's shoes. Like Katie Williams's 2018 novel Tell The Machine Goodnight before it, Little Eyes supposes a world that is our world, five minutes from now. Which is probably one of the reasons why Little Eyes, her new novel (translated from Spanish by Megan McDowell) reads like such great science fiction. The narrator talks in a slow monotone whispery voice, that most people use to talk to five year olds. It is liable to give the younger kids nightmares, if they don't die of boredom first. Putting that aside, I have the maturity of a ten year old, but I found this to be too dark and too serious and almost void of humor. Jacques has his own following, so if you are one of those you might like this. I understand having them talk, we can easily pretend that animals communicate with each other. I have never understood turning animals into humans, if you are going to do that, then just make them elves or hobbits or some sort of little people. I loved Watership Down and in that rabbits lived in warrens and the only one who wore anything close to clothes was the old general, who wore an eye patch. Rabbits live in houses with windows, winding stair cases etc. In this book rabbits, have hands, not paws, they wear clothes, climb trees, and wolves wear uniforms, shoot bows and arrows and have swords. THE WHITE RABBIT HELD UP HIS HAND, (not his paw?) This is more Brian Jacques and it is not Watership Down. YOUR ONLY A BETRAYER IF YOU BETRAY YOURSELF īrand management uses an array of marketing tools and techniques in order to increase the perceived value of a product (see: Brand equity). In 20, Kapferer and Keller respectively defined it as a fulfillment in customer expectations and consistent customer satisfaction. In 2001, Hislop defined branding as "the process of creating a relationship or a connection between a company's product and emotional perception of the customer for the purpose of generating segregation among competition and building loyalty among customers". A brand manager would oversee all aspects of the consumer's brand association as well as relationships with members of the supply chain. The intangible elements are the experiences that the target markets share with the brand, and also the relationships they have with the brand. Tangible elements of brand management include the product itself its look, price, and packaging, etc. Developing a good relationship with target markets is essential for brand management. In marketing, brand management begins with an analysis on how a brand is currently perceived in the market, proceeds to planning how the brand should be perceived if it is to achieve its objectives and continues with ensuring that the brand is perceived as planned and secures its objectives. Trace of Doubt by DiAnn Mills6/28/2023 “Enough!” I drew my fists and stepped nose to nose with the leader. I can handle this.” Holly’s courageous words would only earn her another fist to her battered face. “None of your business unless you want the same.” “What’s she done to you?” I eyed the woman. I’d run into this woman before, and she had a mean streak. “Hey, what’s going on?” I forced my voice to rise above my fear of them. For one who was eighteen years old, she looked fifteen. “Please, stop,” Holly said through a raspy breath. I’d been in her shoes, and I’d do anything to stop the women from beating her. One held her arms behind her back, and the other three took turns punching her small body. I raced to the rear pantry fearing what I’d find.įour women circled Holly. In any event, uneasiness swirled around me like a dust storm.Ī plea to stop met my ears. The hallway to the pantry needed better lighting or maybe fewer corners. I needed to get those potatoes boiling to feed hungry stomachs. She’d been gone long enough to plant and dig them up. Holly had disappeared after I sent her to the rear pantry for potatoes. Would I ever learn? I’d spent too many years looking out for someone else, and here I was doing the same thing again. Grave mercy review6/27/2023 (Anyone ever seen an action movie and wondered just where the women put those giant guns under their mini-skirts? (No, not that giant gun!)) I love how the nuns have their own talents, and how their many weapons are hidden in what I feel are realistic ways under their clothing. She discovers a natural expertise in poisons and learns how to kill people with different weaponry. Ismae is rescued from her father (who was always pissed that death sired a child with his wife) and sent to the convent. Ismae is sent to court to kill the traitor set on destroying Anne’s future but finds that all is not what it seems. Her mission is to protect the Duchy of Brittany’s heir, Anne, from her many enemies. Rescued from her life and delivered to the Convent of St Mortain, she is trained to be an assassin. Ismae is the 17-year old daughter of Death. Also, killer nuns, historical intrigue and romance! A fresh, new series that will appeal to teenagers and adults alike.
